Directions for submission

The search for the best Middle School (6th – 8th grades) poetry in Sussex County is underway!  This search, sponsored by the Sparta Public Library, will continue until Tuesday, February 14 at 8:00PM.  Please take careful notice of the requirements.   Winners will be notified in early April.  First, Second and Third Place awards, as well as Honorable Mentions, will be presented for each grade level at a ceremony in April.  We look forward to receiving your poem – good luck!

Requirements

1. All entries must be submitted by 8:00PM on Tuesday, February 14, or postmarked (if submitted in a hard copy format) no later than February 14. 
2. Only one poem per student will be accepted.
3. There are no restrictions as to content, theme, or length of entries.
4. The entry must be the student’s original work, and not a rewording or reworking of another poet. 
5. Important: the student’s name must not appear on the poem or it will be disqualified.

If the poem is submitted in hard copy format, please be sure that the poem is either hand written or typed in black ink. 

Entries that do not follow these requirements will be disqualified. 

To submit, please follow these directions:

1. Access form on the Sparta Public Library website (middle section of page).
2. Fill out submission form completely.
3. Only the following formats will be accepted: Word document, PDF file, and text format.  Load the poem onto the form and click submit to finish.

The poem will automatically be sent to Sparta Public Library for submission to judges.

*If you do not have access to a computer, you may submit a hard copy.  Official entry forms will be available here or at the Children’s Desk.
